The dangers of opioid abuse are being brought to everyone’s attention by a bereaved mother whose son tragically passed away.
In a touching Facebook post, Sherri Kent explained that her 22-year-old son Michael had overdosed on prescription drugs. Fentanyl, which is roughly 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, was administered to him at a lethal dose.
The distraught mother wrote, “I want everyone to know that my son Michael overdosed on fentanyl. “My son was not addicted; rather, he committed a mistake that resulted in his death.
Sherri also posted a picture of Michael in his hospital bed, probably unconscious and intubated, and held in her arms.
Michael Kent died on March 21st.
According to the CBC, the mother claims that Michael and his sister were doing something when they met an unidentified man who offered them drugs. The day before the tragedy, it took place. Despite being advised not to take the pills by his sister, Michael met the man the following day. He purchased the drugs and took them to the bathroom of the store, where he overdosed on them.
Sherri told the CBC that “he was in cardiac arrest” when the ambulance arrived.
Michael died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
Sherri stated, “Trust me, those were the worst days of my life.”
The Huffington Post claims that fentanyl, a particularly potent opioid, is partly to blame for the recent spike in opioid overdose deaths. Fentanyl appears to have continued to be used because it is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, another opioid. in the United States of America.”
The CBC reports that fentanyl overdoses are also on the rise in Canada, particularly where Michael resides.
Sherri wrote, “I just want to let everyone know about the ongoing epidemic that is killing 5-7 people per day in every city in Canada. “It’s out of hand, and the only way to safeguard our children from it is to educate them about the risks posed by modern drug use.
The mother stated, “They made me a place on the bed where I could lie with my son and talk to him.”I told him then that I still admire him.”
The moving and heartbreaking post by Sherri went viral. She is pleased that thousands of people received their condolences and prayers; this indicates that she contributed to raising awareness.
We are exceptionally upset for this mother’s misfortune and say thanks to her for sharing her child’s story since it might forestall at any rate a portion of these hazardous excesses.
Michael, rest in peace.
