People criticized famous actress Sarah Jessica Parker, known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City,” when she appeared without makeup and with gray hair during a dinner with Andy Cohen.
They called her old because of her silver hair, but they didn’t say anything about Cohen, who had more gray hair.
These comments were called “misogynistic.” Parker, who is 58 years old, wondered in an interview why people were questioning those who don’t mind aging.
“It seems like some people don’t want us to be completely fine with how we are. It’s like they prefer seeing us upset about our current selves, whether we age naturally and don’t look flawless, or if we do something to feel better about it.
“I’m aware of how I look… What can I really do about it? Stop getting older? Vanish?” Parker continued. “I try to be kind to myself. I’m not fooling myself. I understand that age catches up…” The 58-year-old actress said.
Back in 2014, the well-known 78-year-old Diane Keaton got criticized for showing up at the Golden Globes with her gray hair. Lots of folks on social media didn’t hold back, criticizing her because of her age.
Keaton talked about growing older gracefully and said that the gray hairs on her head were like her “battle scars.” She believes people shouldn’t be scared to show them off.
“I don’t think there’s anything bad about getting face-lifts, Botox, or fillers. They just hide the signs of aging. I plan to embrace mine, in a way,” Keaton explained.
In 2023, well-known actress Jennifer Aniston shared her gray hair on social media and faced criticism for aging.
Some people act like it’s really rare for TV and movie stars to have gray hair! They sarcastically suggested giving Jennifer an award because she’s so brave for doing something that’s never been done before.
Some other comments said, “Good job for letting your gray hair show – it’s nice to see,” and “She looks great, except for some bad lip work.”
Another person said, “I’m sure she started getting gray hair a while ago – she’s just starting to accept it.” However, someone disagreed, saying, “No, dye it. I know people say it’s empowering and all that, but do yourself a favor and make it blonde.” Another comment suggested, “Gray hair doesn’t look good on you yet. Save it for later, please.”
The 55-year-old famous actress said that her beauty comes from her Greek genes, and she advised people to stay hydrated and get enough sleep. “Don’t use too many products, that’s another thing. Getting enough sleep is always important,” Aniston added.
