Chef Gordon Ramsay had a bad biking accident that left him badly bruised.
Over Father’s Day weekend, the famous chef and TV host shared on social media about his accident to remind everyone to wear a helmet. He described the scary experience, saying he needed medical help and felt lucky to be alive.
“With Father’s Day tomorrow, I have a very important message for all the dads out there… WEAR A HELMET!” Ramsay wrote in a post showing his big bruise.
“This week, I had a really bad bike accident in Connecticut. I’m okay and didn’t break any bones or get seriously hurt, but I’m pretty bruised up, looking like a purple potato,” he continued.
“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London who took care of me, but most of all, I’m thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and stay safe. Gx.”
In the video he posted, Ramsay said, “The doctors, nurses, and surgeons who took care of me were amazing. But really, you’ve got to wear a helmet. It doesn’t matter how short the trip is or how much the helmet costs; it’s essential. Even for kids, on short trips, they need to wear a helmet.”
“Now, I’m lucky to be here. I’m in pain. It’s been a tough week, and I’m just getting through it.”
His fans quickly posted comments wishing him well.
“I thought it might have been a small crash, but that bruise shows otherwise! Glad you’re okay,” one person wrote. “I’m very glad we didn’t lose this legend. Thank you for spreading awareness, Gordon. We need more people promoting health and safety. Proud of you,” another added.
We’re glad Chef Ramsay didn’t get more seriously hurt.
