At the end of the day what really matters is that your loved ones are well, you’ve done your best and that you’re thankful for all you have.
Whether we know it or not, human beings are driven by a sense of achievement. A lot of the time, we measure our achievements against time.
We say things like ” at so and so time, I should be at this point” or, ” at so and so point in my life, I should have done this or that “.
We set goals and targets for ourselves, all to meet our achievement quota.
Then, there is society’s standard, as we are not been hard on ourselves enough. With its myriad of rules and expectations, society puts its burden on us, causing us to want to meet some standards.
In trying to meet up with all of these standards, we lose sight of what is important.
The truth is that at the end of the day, the things that matter are most times very different from what we have been chasing.
At the end of the day, what matters is that your loved ones are well, you have done your best, and you are thankful for everything you have.
When we take our sights from measuring our achievements either by our standards or that of society, to be grateful, we find that we have achieved a whole lot more than we imagined.
The things that matter cannot really be measured. Many times, life beckons on us to evaluate. A lot of us get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle to achieve our set goals, that we forget to evaluate our lives.
Sometimes in the midst of trying to meet our targets, we find it hard to slow down and take in everything we have done.
We keep pushing ourselves to do better and be better. While that is not a terrible thing to do, we sometimes push ourselves so hard, we forget what it means to be really blessed.
You can chase the loftiest goals and try to put every known achievement under your belt, and that is all good.
However, here is what should matter at the end of the day. That your loved ones are well, and your family is complete. One thing this year has taught us is that having all your family members and loved ones alive and healthy is a precious gift.
Another thing that matters is knowing that you did your best. Sometimes, we set goals and don’t meet them. It is okay to feel a bit down, but here is the thing that matters, you did your best. You should celebrate that fact.
Finally, be grateful for all that you have. Do not let the things you do not have prevented you from been thankful for the things you have.
Sometimes we need a reminder of the good things thay have happened to us, and the good things we have, so that we can be thankful.
Always be thankful, and be intentional about gratitude.
When you do these often, you will come to the profound realization that at the end of the day, these are the things that matter.
