Some families in Wyoming are very sad because three talented University of Wyoming student athletes who were swimmers passed away in a car crash on a Colorado highway.
After the sad event, the school community has come together to help the grieving families and the swim team.
Carson Muir, Charlie Clark, and Luke Slabber, who were on the university’s swim team, sadly died in a crash on Highway 287 near Fort Collins. Many sources have shared this news. The university community is deeply shocked, and students and teachers are offering lots of sympathy and help.
The terrible crash happened around 2:45 pm on Thursday (February 22). The Toyota Rav4, with Muir, Clark, Slabber, and two more people inside, went off the road while heading south towards Fort Collins. Early investigations show that the car swerved to avoid hitting a slowing car.

“The driver moved suddenly, and the car went off the road, flipping over many times. The crash is being looked into,” said a statement from the university.
But, according to NBC News, the Colorado State Patrol mentioned on Friday (February 23) that they haven’t ruled out factors like speed or distractions as possible causes of the crash yet.
Two more guys from the men’s swimming and diving team were in the car during the crash. One of them was driving. They got hurt, but their injuries weren’t life-threatening. They’re out of the hospital now, according to the source.

Jace Smith, a student at the university, talked to CBS about how the students are getting ready to welcome the women’s swim team back from Texas. He said, “It was really awful. This is such a sad event. I think everyone is feeling for the swim team at the moment.”
“I think it’s great that students are putting up these messages for them. Hopefully, it will cheer them up. Hopefully, everything will be okay in the end,” he added.
Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman released a statement asking for help for the families of the students who passed away. He said, “Please keep these families in your prayers. They will need a lot of help. We use the slogan ‘One Wyoming’ to show that we’re all together, supporting our teams. Let’s live up to it!”
He added, “I offer my sympathy to the families. I believe everyone in Wyoming and Colorado feels the same way.”
