Stepmom shares heartfelt wedding vows with her four-year-old stepson — his reaction is deeply touching

Watching two people in love get married and say “I do” is always a happy moment.

When guests attended the wedding of US Marine Corps sergeant Joshua Newville and Senior Airman Emily Leehan, they expected to enjoy the celebration. What they didn’t expect was to witness a moment they would never forget.

As Emily Leehan began reading her wedding vows, she had something special prepared for her stepson, Gage. The little boy was very excited to see his dad get married, and it was clear that he loved and approved of his new mom.

As Gage looked at Emily with bright eyes, she turned to him and began reading her vows just for him.

Her speech was so emotional that everyone there couldn’t help but say “aww.” Many guests had tears of happiness in their eyes, but it was Gage’s reaction that touched everyone the most.

As he listened to his stepmom’s words, he started crying and hugged her tightly.

“I want you to always be safe, do your best, and be a good person,” Leehan said. When she noticed the moment was overwhelming for him, she gently added, “Don’t cry, baby.”

She continued by saying that she hoped he would always remember how special he is. She told him he is very smart, handsome, and kind, and that he helped shape her into the woman she is today. She ended by saying that even though she didn’t give him life, life gave her the gift of him.

After calming their emotions, the couple continued sharing their vows.

Right after the meaningful ceremony, the newlyweds returned to active duty. They delayed their honeymoon because they both had to go back to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
