Teddy’s sixth birthday was supposed to be a happy day. His parents offered to take him to Disney World or Lego Land, but he chose to have a party with his friends.
His mom, Sia, reserved a table at Peter Piper Pizza and gave out 32 invitations to his classmates two weeks before. More than half of the parents said their kids would come.
On Teddy’s birthday, none of his classmates showed up. The family waited for over an hour, and it was heartbreaking for Sia to see her son so disappointed. Teddy’s dad was also upset, saying Teddy was really looking forward to having his classmates there.
To cheer him up, his parents played arcade games with him. Sia took a picture of sad Teddy and shared it online. She didn’t expect the photo to go viral and get so much attention.
As the photo spread, hundreds of people sent birthday wishes to Teddy, and some sent gifts. The Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Rising MLS team invited the family to their games.
However, only one parent apologized to Sia for their child missing the party. This situation reminds us to be more thoughtful and considerate of others.
