Going to Mexico was a dream come true. I was so excited to spend time with my husband and our two kids, making unforgettable memories. But when we got there, my husband’s behavior made me question how he felt about me. He refused to take any pictures with me, which left me confused, and the truth behind it broke my heart.
Before the trip, I found out I had inherited money and property from my uncle. I planned to share this news with Luke during our vacation.
But his repeated refusal to take pictures of me started to feel suspicious.
Whenever I asked, he’d respond with, “Not now, Hannah,” or “I’m not in the mood, maybe later.”
It felt odd because taking a picture only takes a few seconds, yet Luke didn’t seem willing to make that small effort for me.
This went on for days until, one day, Luke left his phone unlocked on the bed while he was in the shower.
I felt guilty about invading his privacy, but I needed to understand why he was acting this way.
And then I saw it—a message in his group chat with his friends. He had written: “Imagine, guys, at her weight, she still wants me to take pictures of her. Where in the picture would she even fit? She’s completely changed since giving birth.”
Those words broke me. I had no idea he thought so little of my appearance.
Without hesitating, I took a photo of myself and posted it online with the caption: “Am I really so unattractive that even my own husband refuses to take a picture of me?”
In no time, I was flooded with supportive comments and messages from others.
When Luke came out of the bathroom and saw my post, he acted clueless, pretending not to know why I did it. So, I reminded him of the messages he had sent to his friends.
Then I told him, “Oh, and by the way, I inherited my uncle’s property and assets. I’m moving into his house and separating from you.”
