Little Johnny is in 7th grade. He used to ask his teacher a lot of questions.
One day, Johnny asked his English teacher,
“Why don’t we pronounce some letters, like the ‘H’ in ‘hour’ and ‘honour’?”
His teacher replied, “We don’t ignore them; they’re just silent.”
Johnny was even more confused.
During lunch break, his teacher gave Johnny her packed lunch and asked him to heat it in the cafeteria.
Johnny ate all the food and gave her back the empty container.
His English teacher:
His teacher asked, “What happened? I told you to heat my food. Why are you giving me an empty container?”
Little Johnny replied, “I thought the ‘H’ was silent.”
