Nothing short of a miracle happened when an 18 month old baby girl overcame the odds and lived despite everyone believing she was on her last days.
Parents Lee and Francesca Moore Williams became concerned for their infant daughter’s health when they discovered that she was losing clumps of hair, but physicians informed them that she likely had asthma. However, everything started to become worse when young Bella started losing her vitality and was fading in and out of consciousness during a family vacation in Spain. Bella was checked into a hospital when the family came back at their house.
Her health didn’t seem to be improving. She suddenly lost her ability to breathe on her own, and a ventilator was installed. The MRI scans of her brain showed serious abnormalities in both hemispheres.
When Bella’s parents were informed that there was nothing that could be done to save her life, they tragically decided to switch off the ventilator. They brought in family members to see Bella for one last time before saying their sad goodbyes to their little angel. To keep the memories of their little baby of joy, they also shot a picture of themselves with Bella and their five year old son.
Bella started to breathe freely as soon as the ventilator was switched off, and they remained at her side throughout the process. Her oxygen levels suddenly increased to 100%, it surprising everyone.
Biotinidase deficiency, a genetic illness that affects just one in every 60,000 births, eventually became known as Bella’s condition. If untreated, the deficiency can be life threatening, but medications will now safely control it.
Bella had been discharged and sent home five months after being admitted to the hospital and her parents thinking they had lost her forever. She learned to walk and seems to be doing great. She is eight months behind other kids her age, according to the medical professionals, but she will catch up since she is a smart young lady.
Francesca stated, “I didn’t know that at the time, but now, I feel a lot of guilt for bringing my family members there to say goodbye.”
“That moment when I had to say goodbye to my daughter will never, ever be forgotten.”
Bella made it clear she can fight. It is extremely amazing that she made a full recovery.
