Last Saturday, her 15-year-old daughter asked if she could sleep at a friend’s house and go to the movies. The mom said yes because her daughter had always been responsible and kept in touch. But that night, her plans changed—and everything went wrong.
At 1:00 a.m., the mom got a Facebook message saying someone heard that her daughter was passed out somewhere. Her heart dropped. She tried calling her daughter many times, but there was no answer.
Soon, a girl brought her daughter home. When the mom opened the car door, she saw her daughter unconscious, not moving, foaming at the mouth, and covered in vomit. They had already called 911.
The ambulance came, but her daughter was not responding. They knew she had been drinking vodka, but they weren’t sure if she had taken anything else. She was given Narcan four times, but she still didn’t wake up.
At the first hospital, doctors said her airway was too weak. She had to be intubated (a breathing tube placed in her throat) and quickly transferred to another hospital. There, doctors said she was no longer breathing on her own.
For 14 long hours, the mom begged and prayed for her daughter to live. She thought about her daughter’s whole life—from the day she was born, her first smile, first steps, first day of school, special mother-daughter moments, and all the people who love her. She couldn’t imagine losing her.
Her daughter had been with a group of teens. When they saw she wasn’t okay, they panicked. They were scared of getting in trouble, so they left her there. Only one girl—who wasn’t even a close friend—stayed with her. She tried to find the mom’s contact information and finally did. She didn’t care about getting in trouble. She just wanted to save her.
That one girl saved her daughter’s life.

The mom wants every teen to know: you will NOT get in trouble for getting someone help. You could save a life. Don’t ever be too scared to call for help.
After 14 hours, her daughter finally opened her eyes and asked for her mom and sister. She survived, but she still has a long recovery ahead. She has breathing problems, injuries from falling while drunk, cuts near her eye, and doctors are watching to make sure she doesn’t get pneumonia from vomit in her lungs.
The mom says they are not completely out of danger yet, but her daughter is home and safe for now.
She thanks everyone who prayed and helped her family during this nightmare. She also warns parents about underage drinking. Her 92-pound daughter had a blood alcohol level of 2.8 after drinking Ciroc vodka.
She wants parents and teens to understand: this can happen to anyone. It’s real, and it’s happening everywhere.
She is sharing her family’s painful story in the hope that it will save another child’s life.
