A homeless man walks into Burger King and asks an employee, “What can I buy for 50 cents?”

Helping others in need is what keeps the world kind and caring. In times when it feels like humanity has let us down, people like young Matthew Resendez remind us that there is still goodness and hope.

While working at a local Burger King in an area with many homeless people, a homeless man walked in and showed Matthew a small amount of coins. He asked if he could get a meal for 50 cents, as that was all he had.

The man wasn’t asking for charity; he was willing to pay for his food, even though he didn’t have enough money for the cheapest item on the menu.

But Matthew couldn’t turn him away, knowing he was hungry, so he chose to help him instead.

Matthew used his own money to buy food for the homeless man, and it was a truly heartwarming act.

When he got home and told his mom about it, she shared the story with her friends, not expecting it to become so popular.

Here’s what Matthew’s mom, Michelle, wrote:

“Proud mom moment!

Matthew was working tonight when a homeless man came into the restaurant with 50 cents and asked if there was anything he could buy from the menu.”

Matthew asked the man what he would choose if he could order anything, and the man said he just needed something to ease his hunger.

So, Matthew rang up a filling meal and paid for it with his own debit card. He gave the man the receipt and told him to sit down and relax.

But the story didn’t end there. A woman nearby saw what Matthew did. She not only wrote to the company to praise him for his kindness but also gave him a generous tip!

I’m so proud to be his mom, and it feels good knowing I helped raise such a kind-hearted young man.

Even though Matthew is still young, he understands kindness and compassion. He believes everyone is equal and deserves respect, no matter their situation in life.

Millions of people have read his story and agree that he’s an extraordinary young man. His mom is proud of him, and so are we.
