11-year-old passes away due to an internet challenge.

Social media can sometimes be very dangerous. An 11-year-old boy named Tommie-Lee Billington from Lancaster, England, died after trying a popular TikTok challenge.

Tommie was at a friend’s house for a sleepover when they saw the challenge on TikTok and decided to try it. Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong, and Tommie lost his life.

The challenge reportedly involves inhaling harmful gases or substances like dry shampoo, spray deodorant, or glue to get a high.

As soon as Tommie breathed in the gas, his heart stopped, and he passed away immediately.

“The hospital tried everything to save him, but nothing worked. He was gone,” said his grandmother, Tina Burns.

She added, “He was kind and caring, just like his dad. Our family is heartbroken.”

Tommie’s mom, Sherri, shared her heartbreak, saying the trend took her son’s life and urged parents to keep their kids away from this social media app.

“This took my son’s life because he tried something other kids were doing. Please talk to your kids about how dangerous this is. I can’t understand why anyone would even try it!” the grieving mother wrote on Facebook.

“I’ve never felt pain like this. My whirlwind, I love you so much. My baby boy, you’ll always be in my heart. I’ll do everything I can to make sure your name and face help save other children’s lives, so no family has to go through this pain,” she concluded, leaving many deeply moved.

Sadly, this isn’t the first tragedy caused by this challenge. Another young girl, 13-year-old Esra Haynes, also lost her life in a similar way.

Rest in peace, Tommie.
