As parents, we’ll do anything to keep our kids happy and at ease. So when Ben Sowards, a dad from Utah, got a call from his 6-year-old daughter’s school about a bathroom accident, he rushed to pick her up.
He also wanted to help his daughter, Valerie, feel less embarrassed about what happened. That’s when he came up with a smart idea…

Before getting in the car and driving to Valerie’s school, Ben poured a little water on the front of his pants. In an interview with Huffington Post, he said his goal was to make his daughter laugh so she would feel better.
“I knew she was really embarrassed, but I believed that if I could make her laugh, everything would be okay.”
And it worked perfectly.

When Ben went into the principal’s office, he asked to borrow his daughter Valerie’s backpack. He whispered to her that he had to hide something. At first, Valerie didn’t understand why.
Then she looked at his pants.
Ben told Huffington Post that as soon as Valerie saw his pants, she felt fine. She stood up and confidently left the school with him.
“She was frustrated at first, but when she saw my pants, I got that look from her that said everything was okay. Every dad knows that look. Then we just walked out like nothing happened.”

All Ben had to do was drive to the school and pick up his daughter. But he went the extra step and wet his pants with water so she wouldn’t feel embarrassed about something many kids go through.
We need more dads like Ben!
